What is Social Anxiety?

Social anxiety, as the name suggests is a fear of reluctantness to do activities that require being sociably active or placing yourself in a situation out of your comfort zone with other people.

There are many forms of social anxiety, every tried to stand up and give a speech?

That is a form of social anxiety, but can also be tied down to performance anxiety aswell. But it is most certainly not limited to this, other limitations may be, meeting new people or friends, eating with other company, small talk, “elevator” confrontation and group activities.

Do I have Social Anxiety?

Well if you have been reading this article or researching the topic and you can relate to it, then chances are you suffer from some type of social anxiety. Child Anxiety – Anxiety in children

7:15 am

The most prevalent problem with children and adolescents in today’s society is anxiety and child anxiety. This is even higher then depression and stress.

Some of the symptoms that you will see in your children that suffer from anxiety are, shyness, not wanting to go to school, not wanting to go out with friends, unusually quite and coming home from school or activities looking dejected and or sad.

Obviously there are many other reasons why these symptoms could be prevalent but the most common one is anxiety in children.

How can I help my child with anxiety?

Just because your child is shy or suffering from some of the above problems does not mean they will be unsuccessful in life. In fact there are varying degrees of child anxiety.

Most children will have it in one form or another, so unless it is severely preventing your child from certain things, it won’t need treatment.

Some of the treatments that you can use with your child are things such as joining them into a group sport that they like such as soccer, football and other type sports. There are also relaxing hypnosis tapes that can help if they are needed.

But the best way to deal with extreme child anxiety is through a child psychologist.

Spotting child anxiety.

This is difficult to grasp as it is in almost every case, present to a certain degree. For example take a shy child. That for all looks is successful in all other parts of life but just shy around people.

At first notice you would just say, “Oh she or he is just shy, that’s all” but upon closer look, put in certain cases and situations this can effect the decisions that are made. For example if a decision requires the child to be overly noticed, then chances are that decision won’t be made.

Or a decision that will place her in a more un-noticed situation will be chosen.

That is just an example but shows how what appears to be nothing too much, can be a form of anxiety.

Avoiding Anxiety Performance

7:00 am

Performance anxiety is where you have a fear of performance let down, or not being able to perform to a certain standard that either you have set for your self, or that has been set by others.

The most common type of performance anxiety is among business professionals, athletes, aspiring actors and bedroom antics. The problem is not limited to men or women, but is more commonly found with men.

Also performance anxiety is extremely common in musicians, and can pose to be a very large problem. As you could imagine, performing in front of thousands of people or even a small group of people can be very intimidating.

How do I overcome performance anxiety?

There are many ways to achieve the same goal; some are chemical in nature, whilst others are more natural. We would recommend that you follow a more natural alternative so that you are not reliant on medication, but sometimes it may be necessary depending on your individual case.

Performance anxiety treatments available.

Beta Blockers – Chemical
Hypnosis – Natural and very effective
Therapy – Natural.

As you will most likely know, most high end athletes, businessmen and musicians will have a psychologist that is relevant to their area, example a sports psychologist. This is to help them be in the most optimal state of mind when it comes to performing their act.

Hypnosis has also shown to be a fantastic and easy way to self treat your anxiety problems.

Anxiety Attack and Anxiety Disorder - What is it?

6:41 am

What is an Anxiety Attack, or anxiety disorder

Not nice, that’s what it is, being an anxiety disorder sufferer myself I can tell you that it is one of the most worst experiences that you will feel. It feels like your chest is contracting, your throat closes and no matter how hard you try you just can’t seem to get any oxygen or breath.

It is at that moment that you feel literally like you are going to die. As I said, its not a pretty experience.

Stages of Anxiety Attacks and Anxiety Disorder

The most describle comment about an anxiety attack is “A sudden overwhealming fear that comes without warning and without any obvious reason”.

Talking from personal experience here, there is not really anything particular that will set off an anxiety attack, however it can be, if you have suffered from an incident earlier on that triggered a panic attack (anxiety attack). Then being placed in a situation that reminds you of that can re-trigger another attack.

The first thing you start to notice is fear, being scared for no apparent reason. Followed by uncontrollable shaking of the hands and or other body parts.

This is related to the fear, imagine being so scared that you can’t stop shaking, this is what this feels like.

It builds up over the space of 30seconds up to a few minutes where it will usually reach a climax. During the worst of it crying uncontrollably is common, then followed by not being able to breath and chest pains.

I would imagine that a panic attack or anxiety attack feels like having a heart attack at the worst of it.

External factors that cause Anxiety Attacks.

There are a few factors that can bring on an anxiety or panic attack, some of these are, extensive drug use, alcohole abuse, and other medication abuses.

Also suffering a traumatic experience which you haven’t dealt with fully can have bring on anxiety attacks in the future.
