Child Anxiety – Anxiety in children

7:15 am

The most prevalent problem with children and adolescents in today’s society is anxiety and child anxiety. This is even higher then depression and stress.

Some of the symptoms that you will see in your children that suffer from anxiety are, shyness, not wanting to go to school, not wanting to go out with friends, unusually quite and coming home from school or activities looking dejected and or sad.

Obviously there are many other reasons why these symptoms could be prevalent but the most common one is anxiety in children.

How can I help my child with anxiety?

Just because your child is shy or suffering from some of the above problems does not mean they will be unsuccessful in life. In fact there are varying degrees of child anxiety.

Most children will have it in one form or another, so unless it is severely preventing your child from certain things, it won’t need treatment.

Some of the treatments that you can use with your child are things such as joining them into a group sport that they like such as soccer, football and other type sports. There are also relaxing hypnosis tapes that can help if they are needed.

But the best way to deal with extreme child anxiety is through a child psychologist.

Spotting child anxiety.

This is difficult to grasp as it is in almost every case, present to a certain degree. For example take a shy child. That for all looks is successful in all other parts of life but just shy around people.

At first notice you would just say, “Oh she or he is just shy, that’s all” but upon closer look, put in certain cases and situations this can effect the decisions that are made. For example if a decision requires the child to be overly noticed, then chances are that decision won’t be made.

Or a decision that will place her in a more un-noticed situation will be chosen.

That is just an example but shows how what appears to be nothing too much, can be a form of anxiety.
